Jim Durbin, general manager of the San Diego Marriott Gaslamp Quarter, was named the 2008 Outstanding General Manager of the Year, Large Property at the Stars of the Industry Awards by the California Hotel & Lodging Association (CH&LA).

The Awards of Excellence are recognized as the most sought after lodging industry association awards.

The Stars of the Industry awards, presented by USA TODAY, were given for employee, manager, and general manager of the year, as well as the lodging property achievement awards for community service, guest relations, and the environmental category of good earthkeeping.
