To help travelers beat the stress and navigate the crowds, the Orbitz Insiders have announced the busiest airports and most popular destinations over the long weekend.
For the third consecutive year, Chicago O'Hare topped the list of the nation's busiest airports, with Los Angeles International and Denver International rounding out the top three. All three airports are major connection hubs, which contributes to much of their air traffic, only Los Angeles also appears on the top ten list of most popular final destinations for Memorial Day, ranking seventh.
"As major airports, like Chicago O'Hare, are inundated with travelers this Memorial Day weekend, vacationers are advised to allow extra time at the airport and to check in online," said Bill Partridge, Orbitz Air Traffic Analyst. "Also, a tool like Orbitz's Traveler Update with real-time information from other travelers is a great resource for staying up to date on traffic, flight delays and security line wait times."
