Northrop Grumman Park Air Systems to Provide Air Traffic Communications Systems in the Balkans |
|
Northrop Grumman Corporation (NYSE: NOC) announced that its Europe-based subsidiary, Park Air Systems, has been awarded a multi-million dollar contract by the Serbia and Montenegro Air Traffic Services Agency Ltd (SMATSA) for the provision of an integrated air-ground radio system to provide VHF and UHF communications throughout Serbia and Montenegro. |
This announcement follows a previous contract awarded to Park Air Systems in 2002 for air traffic management VHF and UHF communications systems.
"SMATSA's decision to select Park Air Systems for a third time as their supplier of choice for ground to air communications highlights the quality of our solutions and the skill and dedication of our staff in delivering highly complex systems. We look forward to a close partnership with SMATSA over the coming months as we implement this important system that will facilitate handling the increasing number of flights that this air navigation service provider will face for many years to come," said Charles Houseago, UK Managing Director for Northrop Grumman Park Air Systems.
The project involves the installation of VHF and UHF communication systems at 14 locations across Serbia and Montenegro in three phases commencing in Dec. 2008 and extending over a period of two years. At each of the sites, Park Air Systems will implement a tailored solution centered on its PAE T6 VHF and UHF multi-mode digital radio and where required, deployable cabins will be positioned to house the sites' equipment. Monitoring and control of both new and existing Park Air-supplied equipment will be undertaken by the company's MARC (Multi-Access Remote Control) system, which gathers operational and performance data from equipment at all sites for centralized monitoring and control operations.
"Cooperation between our two project teams has been a major factor in the success of the projects, and we continue to have an open and flexible relationship with Park Air for the long term support of our systems," said Nikola Stankov, SMATSA president and chief executive officer.
