Econo Lodge Launches Inn & Suites Extension First Inn & Suites Hotel Opens In Downtown Phoenix |
|
PHOENIX, Ariz. (Feb. 4, 2003) – With the opening of the new 48-unit Econo Lodge Inn and Suites Downtown in Phoenix, the Econo Lodge hotel brand, a long-time trendsetter in economy lodging, launches the Inn & Suites extension of its popular hotel brand. |
The Econo Lodge Inn & Suites Downtown will hold its grand opening at 202 East McDowell Rd. on Wednesday, February 5 from noon to 6 p.m. (A ribbon cutting will be held at 4:30 p.m. There will also be a reception, hotel tours and door prizes).
Econo Lodge is one of eight hotel brands franchised by Choice Hotels International (NYSE:CHH), one of the world’s largest lodging franchisors.
By launching the Econo Lodge Inn & Suites extension, Choice Hotels is responding to the needs of hotel guests and developers. "Hotel guests want the flexibility of opting for either a standard room or a suite with a fuller array of room amenities," said Tim Shuy, vice president and brand manager, economy brands for Choice Hotels. "Developers want to invest in hotels that meet the needs of the traveling public."
The Econo Lodge Inn & Suites extension, designed for existing hotels converting to the Econo Lodge brand, requires that 10 percent of the rooms are suites.
The Econo Lodge Inn & Suites, which formerly operated as the Los Olivos Hotel, is owned and operated by San Juan Sun Valley, Inc. of Durango, Colorado.
The Econo Lodge Inn & Suites features 32 standard guest rooms with one king or two queen size beds and 16 suites. Each guest room features 25-inch cable TV, telephone with data port, voice mail, in-room coffee and hair dryer. Each suite features a separate living area, kitchenette with microwave, refrigerator, private patio and balcony.
Special senior rooms feature brighter lighting, large button telephones and television remote controls, lever handles on doors and faucets, alarm clocks with large, easy-to-read numbers, coffee makers and grab bars in the bathrooms. Non-smoking rooms and rooms for individuals with disabilities are also available.
Hotel features include a lushly landscaped courtyard with pool, spa and barbecue grill, guest laundry facilities and free parking. There is also complimentary shuttle service to Sky Harbor Airport, Phoenix Civic Plaza and area hospitals.
The Econo Lodge Inn & Suites is located in downtown Phoenix within walking distance of restaurants, museums and the Phoenix Civic Plaza.
Room rates currently begin at $49. Rates include free continental breakfast of assorted pastries, juice, coffee, tea and milk; free local telephone calls and a 100 percent guest satisfaction guarantee.
Discounts are available when booked in advance for seniors, American Automobile Association members, business travelers, government and military personnel and groups.
Children, ages 18 and under, stay for free when staying in the room of a parent or grandparent.
Econo Lodge hotels participate in EA$Y CHOICE, a frequent traveler promotion that offers guests free lodging or frequent flier miles from participating airlines. From Feb. 15 through April 30, members of American Airlines AAdvantage, Delta SkyMiles, Northwest Airlines WorldPerks, US Airways Dividend Miles, United Mileage Plus and Southwest Airlines Rapid Rewards can receive triple airline miles or credits when staying at any Choice brand hotel in the U.S. and Caribbean. Guests at Econo Lodge hotels will earn 450 miles per stay instead of the standard 150 miles. Members of the Southwest Rapid Rewards Program will receive 1.5 credits instead of the usual 0.5 credit.
Econo Lodge housekeepers participate in a training program that leads to certification by Procter & Gamble's Mr. Clean brand.
