Alliance Chooses Broadband Hospitality’s Valu-Pak-24—a New, Low-Cost High-Speed Internet Package—for Eight of its Midwest Hotels |

Alliance Hospitality Inc., one of Ohio’s largest hotel management companies, has selected Youngstown, Ohio-based Broadband Hospitality to provide wired and wireless high-speed Internet service in eight of its hotels in Ohio and Kentucky. Alliance is the first company to choose Broadband Hospitality’s low-cost Valu-Pak-24 package. |
“Valu-Pak-24 is the perfect high-speed Internet alternative for hotel owners and managers who either cannot afford full implementation throughout an entire hotel, or who are looking to offer and promote a block of rooms that provide higher value to guests,” says Vince Lucci, president of Broadband Hospitality.
As part of its Valu-Pak-24 agreement, Broadband will install 24 high-speed Internet connections in each of Alliance’s eight participating properties. Broadband Hospitality also will provide wireless access points in each of the hotel’s lobbies. Each hotel’s staff and guests will have access to Broadband Hospitality’s 24-hour help desk support every day of the year.
“We chose Broadband Hospitality because they have a proven track record with us,” says Sachin Patel, regional manager of Alliance Hospitality. “Their service is impeccable and they are upfront and honest with us. The support they have provided for our phone and high-speed Internet systems has been great.”
The Alliance Hospitality properties included in the deal include the following seven Ohio hotels: the Holiday Inn, New Philadelphia; Holiday Inn Hotel & Suites, Mansfield; Holiday Inn Express North, Columbus; Best Western Airport Inn & Suites, Brook Park; Microtel Inn & Suites, North Canton; Comfort Inn North, Columbus; and Comfort Inn, Mentor. The agreement also includes a Comfort Inn in Lexington, Ky.
Valu-Pak-24 Provides Flexibility
“Valu-Pak-24, a package we are offering on a lease basis, is a great way to get into the Internet game without spending a lot of money,” says Ed Santor, national sales manager for Broadband Hospitality. “It enables an hotelier to install an initial block of 24 connections. Additional connections in blocks of eight can be added at a later time. The goal for all of these hotels will be to have 100 percent coverage.”
Santor says Valu-Pak-24 is an appropriate high-speed Internet solution for hotels of any size.
“We can do this in any hotel where it would make sense,” he says.
“Especially for smaller hotels, Valu-Pak-24 is a great fit,” Patel says. “With the kind of economy we have today, it is perfect.”
Broadband Hospitality’s Lucci says hoteliers have come to the realization that the time is now to provide high-speed Internet access.
“There’s an urgency based on a supply and demand situation,” he says. “We have hoteliers telling us they are losing business because they do not have it.”
Patel says providing free high-speed Internet access in eight more of Alliance’s hotels will give the company a competitive advantage in each of its markets.
“It will increase our bottom-line revenue,” he says. “People will be more apt to stay at our hotels. We will promote it in our guestrooms, on our website, on our rack cards, in our brochures, and on interior and exterior signage.”
Solid Reputation Drives Growth
Broadband Hospitality now has more than 150 hotels with more than 16,000 rooms installed or under contract.
“Our business keeps growing steadily,” Lucci says. “In 2003, we installed more than 5,500 rooms. We expect to surpass that growth pace in 2004.”
Santor says the lodging industry is recognizing Broadband Hospitality’s ability to provide a superior product and personalized service at a low cost.
“In the last 12 months, a lot of companies have gotten into the high-speed Internet business,” Santor says. “They are out for a quick buck and don’t provide after-sales support. We have proven the value and quality of our service. When a customer calls from a hotel, we know that hotel, the general manager from that hotel and what the phone room looks like. That’s very important in our selling effort. We don’t contract out to third parties to provide service support.”
