Are Gas Prices Or Terror Threat Causing Problems?

The motel, hotel and resort business is seeing some strain under the new level of sustained prices for fuel. In the Lakes Region in New Hampshire on Lake Winnipesaukee. I see far fewer boats in the lake than past years. The cabins and local motels are not full. This is strange for an area where the weathy come to play from Boston and other major New England cities.

Both are affecting the economy

Today there was an article at Forbes magazine online
Strapped Consumers Are Cutting Beyond Frills.

One family, for example, went to visit a museum instead of going to Disney World.
Many do not use their car to hop to Wal-Mart to buy one or two items, but save the trip until they have enough items to buy in order to save on gasoline.
Most people purchase big items while cutting down on the frills.
and so forth.

The news on the economy is not good.

If matters improve with Iraq, Afghanistan, Iran, and North Korea, we may see a reversal of this situation, but it seems that there is trouble everywhere.
