AOL Travel/ Travel + Leisure Magazine's "America's Favorite Cities" Survey Results Revealed In April Issue
Which cities in the U.S.A. do people love the most? According to the third annual America Online and Travel + Leisure Magazine survey of "America's Favorite Cities," travelers love New York for its fashion, citing the city's shopping and stylishness as the best in the country. These and other results from the survey will be reported in the April issue of Travel + Leisure magazine.
Travel + Leisure Magazine and the AOL Travel Channel asked nearly 500,000 AOL members their opinions on 25 popular travel destinations. The comprehensive and irreverent "America's Favorite Cities" poll asked for people's opinions on various travel-related topics ranging from nightlife and cultural attractions to friendliness and sexiness.
The survey highlights the following features about New York:
-- Travelers ranked New York #1 for shopping, ahead of Chicago and San Francisco. New York also came in at #1 for its stylishness, and #3 for meeting someone new and people watching.
-- When it comes to spending the holidays away from home, New York was chosen as one of the ideal places to celebrate Thanksgiving and Christmas. Also, travelers named it as the #2 place to ring in the New Year, just behind Las Vegas.
-- New York also topped the charts as #1 for its cultural events like theater, live music and dance. And, according to travelers, New York is the #2 destination for sightseeing - coming in just behind Washington, D.C.
-- Unfortunately, New York isn't a place to go for relaxation -- according to respondents the city ranked low on the list for peace and quiet.
