Matthew Baizer Named President of Zao Noodle Bar |
|
Zao Noodle Bar, a 6-unit full-service Asian noodle restaurant based in San Francisco, announced that Matthew Baizer has been promoted to President and CEO, effective March 22nd. |
Adam Willner, Founder of Zao Noodle Bar in 1996, stepped down as President to pursue other interests, but will remain on the Board of Directors and continue to consult for the company.
"Matthew has been instrumental in the success of the Company to date," Willner said. "He is uniquely positioned to lead Zao from its entrepreneurial phase to a professionally managed growth phase. His understanding of the Zao Concept and application of multi-unit disciplines will be a catalyst for the emergence of Zao as a nationwide chain."
Mr. Baizer joined Zao in March 2000 as Vice President of Operations responsible for all aspects of day-to-day restaurant operations. Prior to joining Zao, Baizer was Director of Operations for Apple Bay East, franchisee of Applebee's Neighborhood Grill and Bar, where he was responsible for all restaurant operations, tripling the size of the East Bay Franchisee in four years.
Baizer, with over 17 years of restaurant experience, has held management positions with the Legal Sea Foods chain based in Boston, Mass., and Acapulco Restaurants based in Southern California, and is a graduate of the Cornell University School of Hotel Administration.
Five of Zao's six locations are in the San Francisco Bay area with one location in Seattle, Wash. The company's growth plans include expansion into the Portland, Ore., market in early 2005 as well as additional locations in Northern California and Washington State.
Zao Noodle Bar offers a high-quality assortment of Vietnamese, Thai and Chinese noodle dishes. Signature items include Vietnamese Summer Rolls, Ginger-Garlic-Chili Chicken and Prawns, Shanghai Beef and Chicken and Thai Green Curry Chicken.
