Pegasus Solutions Signs Several American Property Management Corporation Hotels and Resorts for its New Web-based Property Management System: PegasusCentral(TM)
Three Properties Installed and Another Signed, Representing Initial Implementation of Pegasus' Agreement with APMC
DALLAS, HONOLULU and SAN DIEGO (June 24, 2002) - Pegasus Solutions
(Nasdaq: PEGS) today announced it has implemented a technology services agreement with San Diego-based American Property Management Corporation (APMC) to provide Pegasus' new Web-based PegasusCentral property management system (PMS) to select APMC independent properties. APMC is a hotel management company that owns and operates 34 independent and chain branded hotels. Dallas-based Pegasus Solutions is a leading provider of hotel industry transaction processing solutions and electronic commerce services.
Prava Hotel in San Diego, Continental Surf Hotel and Kuhio Village Resort, both in Honolulu, are the first APMC hotels to implement PegasusCentral. In addition, the full-service Amberley Suite Hotel in Albuquerque, N.M., is expected to go live with PegasusCentral in 3rd quarter 2002.
PegasusCentral is the industry's first Web-based PMS offered on an ASP basis. Participating APMC hotels are using Pegasus' new system to manage daily on-site operations of all hotel departments, such as check-in and check-out of hotel guests, sales and financial tracking and forecasting, comprehensive guest profiles, and inventory management.
Prava Hotel, formerly Harbor Lights Resort, is a 58-suite, full-service boutique hotel located in the heart of San Diego's historic Gaslamp Quarter. Prior to going live with PegasusCentral in December 2001, Prava Hotel utilized a manual process for checking in guests, generating property reports and managing its hotel departments. According to General Manager Guy O'Nan, PegasusCentral is exceeding his expectations.
Throughout my hotel career I've had the opportunity to try nearly every PMS on the market. PegasusCentral offers the best blend of impressive functionality and ease of use and also comes with an economical price tag, O'Nan said. Whether generating a financial report or training a front desk employee, PegasusCentral is a breeze to navigate with its browser-based foundation. And because PegasusCentral is available in an enterprise model, I'm always confident that my hotel data is backed up and secure and that I'm accessing the latest version of the application.
O'Nan also cited the appeal of PegasusCentral's unique guest folio feature. Unlike other PMSs, PegasusCentral allows hotel staff to pull up a guest's complete payment history by name or credit card account number regardless if more than one card number has been used historically, enabling them to provide more customized service.
Located near Waikiki Beach, the 143-room, 22-story Continental Surf Hotel and the 156-room Kuhio Village Resort implemented PegasusCentral in April 2002. General Manager Lou Walsh oversees both APMC properties, which are about 100 yards apart. According to Walsh, PegasusCentral's multi-property architecture is one of his favorite features of PegasusCentral.
Before adopting PegasusCentral, I had to physically go back and forth between the two properties to review our hotel data. With PegasusCentral, all I need is my computer and password and I can access the property data of both hotels from anywhere, at anytime, Walsh said. I know PegasusCentral is a hit with others on our staff, from housekeeping to accounting to front desk personnel. As a result of implementing the Pegasus PMS, we are able to function more effectively so we can concentrate more on our guests' satisfaction.
According to Bob Bennett, Pegasus Solutions' senior vice president of Property Systems & Services, Walsh and APMC were so confident in PegasusCentral's reliability that only one day after installing PegasusCentral at the Kuhio Village Resort, the property opened its doors for business for the first time since having closed for a brief period in conjunction with the change in ownership.
APMC property managers' positive feedback about PegasusCentral supports our position that Pegasus' Web-based PMS is perfect for full- or limited-service hotels of all sizes and locations, Bennett said. PegasusCentral's functionality is scalable to fit the individual needs of virtually any type of property.
Prava Hotel, Continental Surf Hotel and Amberley Suite Hotel are also customers of Utell, a subsidiary of Pegasus Solutions and the hotel industry's largest third-party marketing and reservations provider(1). As a member of Utell, independent hotels and small chains receive worldwide representation, which enables them to be electronically bookable via the global distribution systems (GDSs) that travel agencies around the world use to book travel, and via the Internet through Utell's extensive distribution network, which includes Orbitz, Lodging.com, Hotwire, Lastminute.com, HotelHub, Travelweb, Priceline.com, ebookers.com, as well as Utell's proprietary sites, Utell.com and Hotelbook.com. Through Utell's extensive voice reservation call center network, the three APMC properties receive voice reservations representation in 41 countries. Soon select APMC properties will be able to have their hotel inventory in the PegasusCentral PMS and in the Utell reservations system continuously in sync, as a result of an electronic interface that will update PMS room inventory in real-time when Utell delivers reservations.
