Lisa Johnson, a financial leader in the hotel industry for over 10 years, has recently been appointed controller of the Mystic Marriott Hotel and Spa.
Overseeing a staff of three people, Lisa Johnson manages all the financial aspects of the hotel, including planning and implementing procedures and systems, preparing fiscal analysis of operations and supervising the entire financial department.
“I hope to bring some stability and my years of experience with the company to help this team grow,” said Johnson. “I plan to help cultivate the accounting staff at this hotel in order for them to be able to position themselves to take on more challenging roles within the company as we continue to develop.”
Lisa has worked at Waterford Hotel Group since her graduation from college in 1993 and has held a variety of positions. Beginning with accounts payable, Lisa continued her employment as a property accountant, a cash manager, and an assistant controller. Most recently, she was a regional hotel controller. She was responsible for the financial aspects of up to eleven hotels at any given time, ensuring accurate financial statements for all properties and working with sales and operations teams at the corporate office to guarantee the success of the hotel. When she started with the company, it had only eighteen hotels. Now, it has over twenty-five.
Originally from Uncasville, CT, Lisa graduated from Eastern Connecticut State University in Willimantic, CT.
