Hong Kong, Mandarin Oriental has appointed Mr Michael Ziemer as general manager of the luxury hotel group’s renowned Munich property, Mandarin Oriental, Munich.
Mr Ziemer assumes his new position from his previous post as Resident Manager of the award-winning Mandarin Oriental, Hong Kong. Beginning his hotel career in 1984, he brings more than 19 years experience to the Group, which includes senior management positions in Saudi Arabia, Germany, Australia and Hong Kong.
Prior to joining Mandarin Oriental in 2003, Mr Ziemer was Hotel Manager of the Ritz-Carlton in Hong Kong.
An Australian citizen with German parents, he is fluent in both German and English.
Mr Ziemer replaces Mr Christoph Mares, who has been appointed General Manager of the Group’s Parisian property, Hotel Royal Monceau.
Mandarin Oriental is the award-winning owner and operator of some of the world’s most prestigious hotels and resorts. The Group operates 20 luxury hotels in key business and leisure destinations, with a further five hotels under development in Chiang Mai, Thailand (opening late 2004); Hong Kong and Riviera Maya, Mexico (opening 2005); Tokyo and Boston (opening 2006). In total, Mandarin Oriental now operates, or has under development, over 7,700 rooms in 13 countries with 12 hotels in Asia, nine in The Americas and four in Europe.
