Seven Shangri-La Hotels Named One Of The Top 50 Hotels In Asia By Conde Nast Traveler Readers

  • Shangri-La Seven Shangri-La luxury hotels were voted into Condé Nast Traveler's 2004 Readers' Choice 'Top 50 Hotels in Asia' list. Shangri-La led with the most number of properties of any hotel company represented on the Asia List.

    The winning properties are:
    ˇ Shangri-La Hotel, Bangkok
    ˇ Pudong Shangri-La, Shanghai
    ˇ Shangri-La Hotel, Kuala Lumpur
    ˇ Island Shangri-La, Hong Kong
    ˇ Shangri-La Hotel, Singapore
    ˇ Makati Shangri-La, Manila
    ˇ Kowloon Shangri-La, Hong Kong

    In addition, readers of Condé Nast Traveler voted Shangri-La Hotel, Bangkok; Pudong Shangri-La, Shanghai; and Shangri-La Hotel, Kuala Lumpur into the world's "Top 100 Travel Experiences".

    Readers were asked to rate hotels according to various criteria such as service, rooms, design, dining and location. From the 20,167 responses received, the publication calculated the average score of each category and tabulated the overall satisfaction percentage.

    Hong Kong-based Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts currently manages 44 hotels under the Shangri-La and Traders Hotels brands, in Australia, mainland China, Fiji, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Taiwan and the United Arab Emirates, with a rooms inventory of over 21,000. In addition, the group has over 20 projects under development in Canada, mainland China, India, Malaysia, Maldives, Oman, Qatar and Thailand.
