Property to Reopen January 22, 2005
A major resort property on St. Maarten, Great Bay Beach Hotel & Casino, is undergoing a massive $10 million renovation program and will open its doors to guests on January 22, 2005.

The historic Great Bay Beach Hotel & Casino is a legendary landmark on the tip of St. Maarten's longest stretch of beach, the only resort close to the heart of the Dutch capital of Philipsburg. Upon re-opening after the renovation, the hotel will be upgraded to a four-star rating with newly created areas such as a lobby bar/evening lounge, a third 'infinity' swimming pool and Jacuzzi. The resort will offer five restaurants featuring Caribbean, Italian, and Japanese cuisine as well as a beachfront restaurant and an upgraded Bella Vista ocean view restaurant for breakfast and lunch. The hotel lobbies and public areas have been redesigned and extended to include a light and modern design Lounge Bar, which will feature live entertainment in the evenings.
Each of the resort's 210 hotel rooms and 50 suites are also being completely remodeled. All rooms will receive new tiling, fixtures, bathrooms, furniture, bedspreads and draperies. Each are furnished and decorated to reflect the character and charm of this Dutch Caribbean island. Interior color schemes accentuate the bright island flavor.
Few other tropical ports can boast an array of fine duty-free stores that equal those found on St. Maarten, especially along the shopping Mecca of Front Street in Philipsburg. With the resort's ideal location, guests are able to take advantage of everything that the bustling capital offers all within walking distance.
A special introductory promotion extends 15% off current rack rates through April 1005.
