InterContinental Hotels Group announced it opened 42 hotels (5,658 rooms) from July through October 2004 across the Americas.
These 42 openings include:
Crowne Plaza opened five properties located in Oklahoma City, Okla.; Tulsa, Okla.; King of Prussia, Pa.; Arlington, Texas and San Antonio, Texas.
The opening of the industry’s first lifestyle brand, Hotel Indigo in Atlanta, Ga. -- in the heart of its revitalizing Midtown area. Hotel Indigo is the first ever lifestyle hotel brand designed to address the desires of style conscious guests who are seeking experience and quality over pure mundane functionality when traveling.
Holiday Inn opened 12 hotels located in Thousand Oaks, Calif.; Lake City, Fla.; Baton Rouge, La.; Brooklyn Center, Minn.; Saint Joseph, Miss.; Columbus, Ohio; Gresham, Ore.; Addison, Texas; Marshfield, Wis.; Santa Fe, Argentina; Ottawa, Ontario, Canada; and Irapuato, Mexico.
Holiday Inn Express opened 21 hotels located in Magnolia, Ark.; Parachute, Colo.; Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; Jacksonville, Fla.; Carter Lake, Ill.; Chanhassen, Minn.; Dickinson, N.D.; Bernalillo, N.M.; Holiday City, Ohio; King of Prussia, Pa.; West Mifflin, Pa.; Hot Springs, S.D.; Austin, Texas; Humble, Texas; Cedar City, Utah; Woodbridge, Va.; White River Junction, Vt.; Everett, Wash.; Douglas, Wyo.; Sherwood Park, Alberta, Canada and Santiago, Chile.
Staybridge Suites, an upscale extended-stay brand, opened a property in Mount Laurel, N.J. Its 77th property, Staybridge Suites is well on its way to 100 properties.
Candlewood Suites, the fastest growing mid priced extended-stay brand, opened two properties located in Tulsa, Okla. and Sterling, Va.
Another notable achievement, the IHG Americas franchise sales group announced it had executed a record breaking number of franchise contracts and re-licensing agreements in the second quarter of 2004, building on the fast start of the first quarter.
This record setting second quarter marked a new high in the number of franchise sales agreements completed and license renewals. There were 81 new agreements for IHG branded franchises within the U.S., Canada and Mexico. Of these new developments, seven will be Crowne Plaza, six will be Candlewood Suites and 68 will be Holiday Inn, Holiday Inn Express or Staybridge Suites brand hotels. Plus, 61 license renewals were finalized during this time period.
At mid-year, IHG has signed 255 agreements for new growth and license renewals. This success is further evidence of IHG’s powerful brands and best-in-class franchise practices.
