|
Property Serves as Catalyst for City's Redevelopment Efforts in Downtown |
John Q. Hammons today announced his plans to develop a four-story, 150-suite Residence Inn by Marriott® in Lincoln, Neb. Featuring a European-style architecture, the new hotel will be owned by Mr. Hammons and will be managed by Springfield, Mo.-based John Q. Hammons Hotels, Inc. (AMEX:JQH).
Construction on the Residence Inn by Marriott - Lincoln will begin in July 2005, and the grand opening is slated for summer 2006. Situated between 17th and 18th Streets and P and Q Avenues, the hotel will be six blocks north of the state capitol and nine blocks south of the Devany Center at University of Nebraska. The property's development and strategic location serve as the catalyst for the city's redevelopment plans in the downtown area. In addition to the new hotel, John Q. Hammons Hotels also owns and operates the Embassy Suites Hotel in Lincoln, Neb.
"Lincoln's commitment to redeveloping its downtown area makes it an ideal match for an upscale extended-stay hotel," said Mr. John Q. Hammons, founder, chairman and chief executive officer of John Q. Hammons Hotels, Inc. "Home to a unique blend of government, university and private industry, Lincoln is a natural fit for my hotel development strategy. Building on the success of our Embassy Suites Hotel, the development of the Residence Inn by Marriott - Lincoln is a logical next step as the city grows for the future."
The Residence Inn by Marriott - Lincoln will feature a variety of amenities for both business and leisure travelers. Guests will have the lodging options of a studio, one-bedroom or two-bedroom suite -- all of which will be equipped with a sleeper sofa, living area with a color television, and a full kitchen that includes a refrigerator, dishwasher, microwave, sink, a four-person place setting of dishes, and a cook top. The two-bedroom suites also will provide guests an additional bathroom and a choice of two queen beds or three queen beds. Additionally, travelers will be treated to a complimentary USA Today or local newspaper every morning and enjoy a daily complimentary hot breakfast and evening social. Guests also will have access to a laundry facility, outdoor pool and whirlpool, tennis courts, cardio fitness center, and a business library outfitted with two desks, high-speed Internet, a printer, books, games and a color television with a DVD player.
