  • Days Inn Just one month after a tsunami and earthquake devastated South Asia, scores of Days Inn owners, operators, vendors and corporate staff members invoked the spirit of hospitality and contributed more than $10,000 for the victims.

The donations, collected during the chain's international conference here last week, will be contributed to the American Red Cross to directly aid the relief effort, according to Days Inn President Joe Kane, who added that the brand will continue collecting donations through Jan. 31.

“The lodging industry serves all people of all nations around the globe,' he said. “In the face of one of the worst tragedies in modern times, the Days Inn family wanted to demonstrate to the world our true spirit of hospitality in this time of need. We thank all of our generous contributors.'
