Choice Hotels International, Inc. (NYSE:CHH) announced that Japanese speaking visitors to its proprietary web site, ChoiceHotels.com, can now complete the booking process in their native tongue.
Japanese joins French, Spanish, German and English as languages in which rooms are fully bookable via ChoiceHotels.com.
“Just over a year ago, we added static Japanese language pages to ChoiceHotels.com,” said Mary Beth Knight, vice president, e-commerce. “Japanese speaking visitors could read about our Japanese properties as well as general brand information in their native language. However, although we did provide voice reservations in Japanese, the online booking process was still in English.
“By translating the booking process into Japanese, we make it that much easier for Japanese guests to stay at our hotels when they travel,” said Knight. “As a global company, operating in a global travel economy, it makes sense for us to do all we can to accommodate this important international constituency.”
Japanese speaking visitors to ChoiceHotels.com simply need to select Japanese from the language drop down in the upper left corner of the home page screen. Search results, arrival and departure data, rates and room types are all presented in Japanese, as is the actual reservation-making process.
“We’re also in the process of translating all property e-brochures into Japanese – as well as into Spanish, French and German,” said Knight. “Once this is completed, the site will offer guests who speak these languages as much information as it presents to English speaking guests.”
Choice Hotels International is one of the world’s largest lodging franchisors, marketing more than 5,000 hotels open or under development in over 40 countries under the Comfort Inn, Comfort Suites, Quality, Clarion, Sleep Inn, MainStay Suites, Econo Lodge, and Rodeway Inn brand names.
