This unique property, currently under construction in The Landmark complex at the heart of Hong Kong\'s fashion and entertainment district, will be home to the 21,000 sq ft Oriental Spa and Wellness Centre.
The Spa and Wellness Centre, according to Mandarin Oriental Group Director of Spa, Mr Ingo R. Schweder, “has been conceptualized and designed over a two-year period, and on opening, will be Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group’s global urban spa flagship.
Conceived by Interior Designer Peter Remedios and Wellness Architect Norbert Deckelmann, The Oriental Spa will feature spaces for Zen tranquillity and holistic exercises, all of which will provide the perfect environment in which to relax, rejuvenate and achieve a harmonious equilibrium of body, mind and spirit, while enjoying one of the most central and convenient locations in Hong Kong.”
The Oriental Spa at The Landmark Mandarin Oriental, will occupy the fifth and sixth floors of the hotel and will offer the most comprehensive range of wellness facilities, beauty and massage treatments in the Asia Pacific region, including signature spa treatments created exclusively for Mandarin Oriental.
True to its origin, the word “spa” comes from the Latin term, Salud Per Aqua, health through the use of water. Consequently, highlights of the new spa will include vitality pools, amethyst crystal steam rooms, ‘experience’ showers, Turkish Hamam baths, Asia’s first authentic Rasul, a Roman Laconium as well as 17 private deluxe treatment rooms and two dedicated pilates and yoga studios with soothing water features. For couples, there will be a 700 sq ft ultra deluxe VIP spa suite with steam sauna and plunge pool.
Fitness devotees can enjoy a hi-tech gymnasium with the latest cardiovascular and weight training equipment, including treadmills, step machines, cardio bikes, weight machines and free weights. There will also be a Spa café and lounge where guests can relax before and after visiting the extensive wellness facilities offered.
The designers, Remedios & Deckelmann, have used materials such as bamboo, natural stone and gold leaf to add to the luxurious and relaxing experience, while cascading water features create a feeling of peace and tranquillity.
Signature treatments include Time Rituals, Ayurvedic, Massage, Body, Face Therapy and Hand and Feet Therapy. Designed to restore one’s natural state of equilibrium, the treatments will feature natural ingredients and healing elements which have been extracted from ancient traditions.
Susanne Hatje, General Manager of the hotel, is enthusiastic about The Oriental Spa’s own personal philosophy. “We want to transport guests into another world.
