  • Four Seasons Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts has added a new jewel to its collection of unique Asian resorts with the official opening of Four Seasons Resort Langkawi, set amid the legendary Malaysian islands that bear the same name.

The new 91-room resort includes an extraordinary spa, 20 beach villas measuring 220 square metres (2,369 square feet), and an array of dining experiences.

"Langkawi is a truly special place, ideal for those who wish to experience the exotic in a setting unparalleled in its beauty," said Wolf Hengst, president worldwide hotel operations, Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts. "The Resort is set on a secluded beach against a backdrop of wild forest- covered mountains and limestone cliffs among 99 islands of mystery, legend and wonder."

At the heart of the Resort is the Spa where each of the six spa pavilions, or treatment rooms, is a sanctuary unto itself and custom designed treatments reflect the multicultural nature of Malaysia. The experience begins and ends in the privacy of the spacious pavilions where guests can choose to partake in a private yoga lesson before experiencing a traditional Malay or Thai massage, an Ayurvedic treatment from India or one of the ancient Chinese therapies on offer. Private outdoor plunge pools and soaking tubs are set among lush gardens and lily ponds with limestone cliffs in the background. For the ultimate in privacy, guests of beach villas need not leave the guest room. Each villa is equipped with its own spa room, with two batik covered massage tables surrounded by windows, framing views of lush and exotic gardens.

The historic Malay, Chinese, Indian and Arabic influences of the region come alive in the design of the Resort, from lobby to rooms to restaurants to spa to private pavilions and secret gardens. Cuisine is similarly influenced in four distinct restaurants, including Serai - Malay for lemongrass - featuring specialties and original dishes inspired by Malaysia, Vietnam, Thailand, Japan, China and India.

Couples seeking a memorable setting for a wedding, honeymoon or romantic celebration will be enchanted by Langkawi. Families are also welcome with fun- filled programs for kids and special amenities for the younger set. Four Seasons Resort Langkawi can also accommodate up to 80 people for special events, meetings and business retreats.

Adventure seekers will also want to discover Langkawi, because the islands offer so many options for exploration, exhilarating activity and unique experiences. The concierge at Four Seasons Resort Langkawi can help plan boating tours, cave exploration, diving, horseback riding and more. The island of Langkawi and the surrounding archipelago are home to numerous parks, nature preserves and bird sanctuaries. There are also opportunities to be immersed in the traditional culture of the island's fishing villages, craft studios, and markets.

Easily accessible in just 90 minutes or less by air from Singapore and Kuala Lumpur, Four Seasons Resort Langkawi has been eagerly anticipated by those seeking a unique resort experience with the thoughtful, intuitive service treasured by Four Seasons guests around the world.
