NEW YORK May 10, 2002 Doral Conference Centers, Hotels & Resorts, a division of MeriStar Hotels & Resorts (NYSE: MMH), today announced the launch of a new multi-level property distribution system to make bookings easier, faster and more convenient for travel agents, meeting planners and business and leisure travelers.
The announcement was made at a special Doral Showcase held at the Doral Park Avenue Hotel here.
There currently are five Doral-branded properties, including the Doral Eaglewood Conference Resort & Spa in suburban Chicago, which is scheduled to reopen this fall following a $72 million renovation, said Hoyt Bacon, MeriStar's chief marketing officer. The five properties allow us to support the most sophisticated booking systems. As we expand the Doral brand, those new properties will immediately be added to the system.
Travel agents now will be able to book Doral properties under the code DL through all of the GDS systems, including Sabre, Galileo, Worldspan and Amadeus. Travel agents are an important source of business for our conference centers and resorts, and we will continue to seek ways to improve their productivity and ease of booking, said Bacon. He noted that Doral will continue to pay a 10 percent commission to travel agents.
The company also announced a new toll-free phone number--1-866-33-DORAL--to be used by business and leisure travelers, as well as meeting planners. Specially trained reservation agents will be available around the clock to provide information and make bookings for meetings and convention facilities, individual rooms and special room packages, including spa and golf getaways.
Internet users can find information about Doral's five resorts and conference centers at www.doral.com. The Web site provides descriptions of all of the properties, meeting room layouts, and special packages. In addition, visitors to the site can book hotel rooms in real time and submit meeting and conference requests for proposals.
All five Doral properties offer full-service hotels and extensive meeting facilities, as well as golf courses and spas, either on site or in affiliation with nearby facilities. The five Doral properties include: Doral Arrowwood Conference Center and Spa, Ryebrook, N.Y.; Doral Park Avenue Hotel, New York City; Doral Forrestal Hotel, Conference Center & Spa, Princeton, N.J.; Doral Eaglewood Conference Resort & Spa, Itasca, Ill.; and Doral Desert Princess Palm Springs, Cathedral City, Calif.
