W Hotels, Starwood Hotels & Resorts' hot new brand of style hotels, will add another chic and stylish W property in the Asia-Pacific region, the W Walker Hill in Seoul, Korea. Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide, Inc. (NYSE:HOT) will operate the 253-room W Walker Hill, Seoul, Korea through its management agreement with SK Global.
Located in Seoul's modern urban resort district of Walker Hill, the W Hotel will cater especially to upscale leisure travelers when it opens in early 2003 making it the 20th W to open since the brand debuted in 1998. We are thrilled to open the W Walker Hill, said Barry S. Sternlicht, Chairman and CEO of Starwood Hotels & Resorts. Seoul is such a vibrant city and the location of the hotel in the exclusive resort area of Walker Hill is an ideal fit for the W brand. Featuring casually elegant guest rooms and a urban style throughout, W offers the personality and individuality of an independent hotel, yet also guarantees the reliability and superior level of facilities and services expected by sophisticated travelers.
The W Hotel concept was first introduced to Asia-Pacific with the opening of W Sydney in 2000.
