The American Hotel & Lodging Association (AH&LA) and the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) collaborated to create Safety Tips for Traveling with Your Children, a list of 10 invaluable tips for parents and their children to keep in mind when staying at a hotel. This piece is an addition to AH&LA's award-winning Guest Safety Tips cards.
From knowing where your children are at all times to making sure your children know their personal information, including their last name, address, home telephone number, and cell or pager numbers for their parents or guardians, this list provides practical and helpful information.
'Guest safety is a top priority for the lodging industry,' said AH&LA President and CEO Joseph McInerney, CHA. 'AH&LA and NCMEC worked together to create a list of safety tips for children to encourage parents and lodging properties to take precautionary measures.'
NCMEC recommends that parents should choose opportunities or 'teachable' moments to reinforce safety skills. In addition, explain to your children that you want to discuss the safety rules with them, so that they will know what to do if they are ever confronted with a difficult situation.
