Florida International University’s School of Hospitality Management announces an innovative distance learning program that allows students to earn a Master of Science degree in just 20 months – from anywhere at anytime. As one of the nation’s leading hospitality management schools, FIU offers a cost and time-effective Master of Science Degree.
The program has uniquely enhanced distance learning by creating topical real-time classroom presentations on CD-ROM that are delivered to students, ensuring that all learning materials are current and timely.
Students from around the world no longer have to rely on or worry about scheduled campus visits for periodic class meetings or exams. In addition, FIU’s faculty and students can engage in live discussions through email, bulletin boards and weekly chat rooms on the Internet.
“This new design in distance learning will enable students to complete their master’s degree requirements regardless of where they work or live,” said Joseph J. West, Dean of FIU’s School of Hospitality Management. “We can now serve hospitality professionals professionally and they don’t have to worry about relocation plans or travel restrictions.”
The program kicks-off its inaugural semester in June 2002 with a new application deadline of
May 31. Students will be able to complete their master’s degree requirements of 30 credit hours/10 courses, but will only pay a fraction of what it costs to obtain a similar degree from a competing university. All students enrolling will also have around-the-clock access to over 90,000 articles, journals and texts through FIU’s online library.
