  • USATODAY Some rooms just feel right; we walk in and we feel comfortable with the surroundings. It's a sigh of relief in the otherwise impersonal world of business travel.

And how cool would it be to walk into your hotel room, have the temperature set just how you like it, the radio stations all set to the acid rock or smooth jazz you love and the phone already programmed with your most frequently dialed numbers? Well, look no further than a host of high-end hotels that have the technology to make your guest room more like your own room.

The Mandarin Oriental in NYC, for example, tracks frequent guests' electronic preferences, from room temperature to musical selections. When that guest returns, a push of a button from the front desk programs the room to the guest's customized settings, The New York Times reports.

The push to lure guests through technology is growing right along with the development of new devices. With such amenities as HDTV, Wi-Fi, iPod docking stations, universal remote control of lighting, curtains and more, hotels are looking to the future to secure your business today. According to The Times, high-tech furniture is next on the agenda, at least for high-end properties. Sofas with U.S.B. ports and tables inset with wireless battery chargers for cellphones are two items on the drawing board.
