  • AH&LA The Educational Institute of the American Hotel & Lodging Association has updated its Lodging Security Officer (LSO) training program to include new content based on private security officer selection and training guidelines developed by ASIS International, an association of security professionals.

New material in the self-study modular training program includes:

    - Updated security officer skills

    - How to ensure the privacy of guest information

    - Appropriate use of force-Force Continuum

    - How to handle situations involving illegal substances

    - How to handle medical emergencies, including use of Automated External Defibrillators (AED)

Hospitality industry security experts helped to develop EI's Lodging Security Officer program. The self-paced training modules teach general security techniques and tips and hospitality-specific information to help security officers provide effective property security while maintaining the property's guest service standards. The program consists of four modular textbooks, a workbook with progress quizzes, and a DVD or video supplement.

In addition to the LSO's updated print materials and new video content, the Certified Lodging Security Officer (CLSO) study guide and exam have also been updated to reflect information from the new guidelines.

The updated Lodging Security Officer training program is available for $159.95 for AH&LA members and $199.95 for nonmembers.
