HBI Broker Adds Hall of Fame to List of Achievements |
|
Noah L. Canfield, CHB, a thirty-year veteran of the hospitality real estate industry and long time member of Hotel Brokers International, was duly recognized for his contributions to Motor Sports at a ceremony held in Mount Pleasant, Mich., where before a crowd of more than 300 sports enthusiasts and well-wishers, Canfield was inducted into the Michigan Motor Sports Hall of Fame. |
'This recognition is a welcomed surprise and I am honored to be included in the ranks of the motor sports elite,' said Canfield. 'Some may think drag racing and hotel real estate brokerage are polar opposites, but I found that they are not so unlike - it's all about maintaining focus and outperforming the competition,' continued Canfield.
Prior to beginning his successful hotel brokerage career, Canfield became involved in motor sports in 1952 driving and building dragsters out of his Lansing, Mich., speed shop. Canfield is recognized as a pioneer in Drag Racing and a legend in the sport. Canfield's most noteworthy creation, the Glass Chariot, featured a 1,000-horsepower, nitro-fueled dragster with a fiberglass roadster body - the first time ever a body had been attached to a top-fuel dragster. This ingenuity led the National Hot Rod Association (NHRA) to create a special modified fuel class - known today as the Funny Car category - to accommodate the car's design. During the early '60s Canfield's dragster/roadster hybrid set racing records and won top honors at dragster races across the country. Canfield - a former All American swimmer at Lansing Eastern High School for which he was inducted into the Greater Lansing Area Sports Hall of Fame - quit racing in 1968 and shortly thereafter relocated to Florida where he entered the hotel real estate brokerage industry.
Canfield, founder of Clearwater, Fla.-based Greene, Canfield, DeGeorge, Ltd. a full-service hotel real estate brokerage firm, is three-time past president of Hotel Brokers International, a recipient of the organization's Broker of the Year Award and motivation for establishing the organization's top meritorious service award, the Noah L. Canfield Distinguished Service Award which recognizes those who during tenure have distinguished themselves through leadership and service to HBI.
