Riu Palace Riviera Maya, located on the Caribbean Coast of Mexico in Playa del Carmen, reports a 50% occupancy, just days after its opening. The 400-room all-inclusive Riu Palace Riviera Maya opened on February 3, 2006.

Riu Hotels & Resorts, started in 1953 as a small family business, has quickly grown and further expansion is planned. Riu Palace Riviera Maya is the 110th Riu resort in the world and the 11th Riu resort in Mexico.
The first Riu Palace resort was opened in 1989 in the Canary Islands. Since 1989 Riu has opened 17 additional Palace level resorts around the world. In May 2006, Riu Palace Punta Cana will open in the Dominican Republic.
