Rest easier booking rooms on hotel Web sites

Last year, I wrote about how people could protect themselves while traveling in the United States. Recently, I received an e-mail from Robert Jackson, who is an owner/operator of different franchised hotels, including Holiday Inn, Holiday Inn Express, Travelodge and Best Western.

External Source In the e-mail, Jackson asserts that millions of Americans who use travel sites on the Internet may be misinformed when they book their hotel rooms. The two most popular travel sites that millions of Americans use are Expedia and Travelocity.

While these sites provide good information to the traveling public, Jackson claims that most consumers fail to realize that it may be in their financial best interest to book a hotel room directly on a hotel Web site. Here's some advice from Jackson for those looking to book a hotel room online:
