Benchmark Appoints Mark Bommarito Project VP, Sales & Marketing, French Lick

  • Benchmark Hospitality Benchmark Hospitality International has announced the appointment of Mark Bommarito as project vice president of sales and marketing for the historic French Lick Springs Resort & Casino.

    The resort, operated by Benchmark and located in French Lick, Indiana, is currently undergoing a complete restoration and expansion with an anticipated re-opening date of November 2006. Jack Schmidt, Benchmark's chief marketing officer, made the announcement.

    'We are so pleased to welcome Mark to the Benchmark team at French Lick Springs Resort & Casino,' said Mr. Schmidt. 'He brings to his new role extraordinary senior level sales and marketing experience within the casino industry, gained at properties throughout the South and Midwest. He will be a tremendous asset to the casino operation at French Lick.'

    Mark Bommarito's casino experience is vast. He was most recently the director of marketing at Grand Victoria Casino Resort, located in Rising Sun, Indiana. Prior to this position, he held the title and responsibilities of director of marketing at Casino Magic, a gaming property located in Biloxi, Mississippi.

    Bommarito has also served as vice president of marketing for Caesars Indiana, located in Elizabeth, Indiana, as well as the director of database marketing at the Grand Casino Avoyelles, located in Marksville, Louisiana. His first executive-level position within the gaming industry was as director of marketing operations for the Casino Aztar of Evansville, Indiana.

    Earlier in his career, while attending the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, Bommarito was introduced to the hospitality industry through a variety of positions of increasing responsibility for the Ramada Express, located in Laughlin, Nevada.

    Mark Bommarito is a graduate of LaSalle University of Mandeville, Louisiana, with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration. He and his family are relocating to the French Lick area.

    The French Lick Springs Resort & Casino is the centerpiece of a $382 million historic restoration and casino development project that includes the West Baden Springs Resort. Slated to open in November 2006, the French Lick Springs Resort & Casino will feature 443 guestrooms and suites; an 84,000-square-foot nautically themed casino; an array of dining and entertainment options; a completely refurnished spa; and two championship golf courses, one of which is the original Donald Ross PGA Championship course. With an additional 244 guestrooms, the landmark West Baden Springs Resort will offer its own golf course, spa, restaurants and related amenities.
