Carlson Hotels Worldwide today announced that the company has added five franchised Country Inns & Suites By Carlsonsm locations to its global portfolio in May.
These additions bring Carlson's total inventory across all brands to 930 hotels with 146,284 rooms in 70 countries. The company's hotel portfolio also includes Regent International Hotels, Radisson Hotels & Resorts(R), Park Plaza(R) Hotels & Resorts and Park Inn(R).
"Our Country Inns & Suites brand continues to serve as one of our fastest- growing brands, offering a consistent, quality product in the select-service segment of the industry," said Sam Winterbottom, executive vice president of Development, Carlson Hotels Worldwide.
"In the first five months of the year, we've opened 12 new Country Inns & Suites properties, in key primary, secondary and tertiary markets spanning the Eastern, Midwest and Southeastern regions of the U.S. and central Mexico. For the remainder of 2006, our plan for this brand is to continue to build a critical mass of Country Inns & Suites properties throughout the U.S. and abroad," he added.
Four of the five new properties are in the United States. They include the Country Inn & Suites By Carlson, Williamsburg East, VA. It is centrally located between Busch Gardens and Colonial Williamsburg and features 88 guestrooms with 15 suites.
Also, the 62-room Country Inn & Suites By Carlson, Independence, IA which is owned by Independence Lodging, LLC and located in Iowa's Amish country; the 151-room Country Inn & Suites By Carlson, Cape Canaveral, FL, owned by Portview Inn & Suites, LLC and located only ½-mile from Port Canaveral; and the Country Inn & Suites By Carlson, Green Bay East, WI owned by Green Bay Lodging, LLC which features 106 guestrooms (with 53 suites) and is within close proximity to the Green Bay Packer's historic Lambeau Field.
The final hotel to join the Carlson system in May is the Country Inns & Suites By Carlson in Ciudad Valles, which is located in the State of San Luis Potosi in central Mexico. The hotel is owned by GS Consorcio Operador, S.A. de C.V. and features 70 guestrooms and seven suites.
All of the new hotels feature a complimentary, expanded Continental breakfast and traditional brand design elements of hard wood flooring and a fire place in the grand lobby. These new additions bring the brand's global hotel and room count totals to 387 and 30,996, respectively.
