Dow Makes List of Washington State's Fastest Growing Companies
Dow Hotel Company, one of the nation's largest hotel management companies, today announced that the company has been designated as a "Preferred Management Company" by Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide, Inc.(R), which allows Dow to operate Starwood's upscale and luxury brands, including Sheraton(R), Westin(R) and Le Meridien(R). Dow received the by-invitation-only designation by virtue of its experience in managing Starwood(R)-branded hotels and its proven track record as an operator of upscale and luxury hotels.
Separately, Dow was named by the Puget Sound Business Journal as one of the "100 Fastest Growing Companies" in Washington state.
"The Starwood Preferred Management Company designation places us in an elite group of independent hotel operators," said Murray L. Dow II, DHC founder and president of the Dow Hotel Company. "We have aggressive growth plans, as reflected in our recent ranking as the 72nd fastest growing company in Washington, and intend to add at least four new hotels to our portfolio in the near future. Starwood's Preferred Management designation will play an important role in our future growth."
Dow currently operates the Sheraton North Houston at the George Bush International Airport hotel, but its senior management team has a long history of successfully operating other Starwood-branded hotels, including those under the Westin, W(R) and St. Regis(R) flags.
"Starwood's Preferred Management Company designation is reserved for an exclusive group of hotel operators," said Susan Sepehri, vice president, owner relations North America. "Dow Hotel has demonstrated the high levels of quality and service we seek in our operators. They have special expertise in improving the operations of hotels that require repositioning and strong management. They currently are undertaking a $5.5 million major renovation of their Sheraton North Houston. We look forward to the opportunity to expand our relationship with them."
