An obvious result of the September 11 terrorist attacks that devastated our nation is that the hospitality industry is struggling to stay afloat. Hotel occupancies have tumbled faster and deeper then ever before. Both hotel and restaurant revenues are off by 30 to 50 percent in some markets. Even mergers have been terminated due to the current negative business climate and its adverse impact on our financial markets.
