The opening marks the addition of the first full service, all-suites hotel in the downtown district, as well as the first Embassy Suites Hotel to be built in downtown Tampa.
The 20-story, 360-suite hotel is owned by WMB III, LLC, and is managed by Hilton Hotels Corporation. Total project cost for the hotel is in excess of $100 million.
"The Embassy Suites brand is excited to be a part of the exciting development and growth of downtown Tampa," said Jim Holthouser, senior vice president, brand management, Embassy Suites Hotels. "Tampa is the ideal place to showcase the upscale amenities and services that Embassy Suites provides and this hotel will cater to both business and leisure travelers."
The hotel provides guests with a full complement of services and amenities consistent with all Embassy Suites Hotels, such as spacious, two-room suites, complimentary cooked to order breakfast, an evening manager's reception* and the EmbassyDirect(tm) Registration Kiosk featuring hotel check-in, check-out and airline boarding pass printing. Additional features include wireless high-speed Internet access in the atrium and all public areas, as well as high-speed Internet access in each suite, a heated outdoor pool, a full-service business center and a full fitness center.
The hotel is the only building that is conveniently connected to the Tampa Convention Center by a Sky Bridge. Guests also will enjoy the convenience of boarding an electric streetcar from a station located just outside the hotel entrance. This public transportation system takes passengers along the downtown waterfront to two popular entertainment districts, the waterfront shops, restaurants and attractions at Channelside and Ybor City, Tampa's Historic Latin Quarter.
