EDITORS’ CHOICE AWARDS FOR BEST NEW PRODUCTS IN FIVE CATEGORIES ANNOUNCED AT IH/M&RS |

NEW YORK, NY, November 10, 2001... Winners of the Sixth Annual Editors’ Choice Awards for Best New Products were presented at the 86th annual International Hotel/Motel & Restaurant Show® (IH/M&RS) on November 10, 2001, at New York City’s Jacob K. Javits Convention Center.
A panel of 14 industry editors reviewed 159 entries and selected winners in five categories and named one Best of Show. The winners and their products are listed below.
* Food & Beverage – Chris’s Cookies (Carlstadt, NJ)
For the Belgian Chocolate Raspberry Brownie, studded with Belgian white chocolate and semisweet chocolate chunks, topped with whole raspberries.
* Foodservice Equipment & Supplies – Eastern Tabletop Mfg. Company (Brooklyn, NY)
For the Insulated Portable Ice Cream System, requiring no electricity, no ice and no refrigeration, keeping three gallons of ice cream cold for four hours.
* Furnishings & Fixtures – Geberit Manufacturing (Michigan City, IN)
For the Tessera™ concealed tank and carrier system with toilet, offering reduced noise, easier cleaning, space saving and height adjustability.
* Technology – VingCard Elsafe, Inc. (Dallas, TX)
For the Biometric safe, with a unique thumbprint reader for the ultimate level of security.
* Amenities – Water Journey® (Livingston, NJ)
For an alcohol-free, fragrance-free antibacterial hand cleanser with a moisturizing blend of aloe vera, lavendar, and chamomile.
* Kenneth F. Hine Best of Show Award – VingCard Elsafe, Inc. (Dallas, TX)
For the Biometric safe.
All IH/M&RS exhibitors were invited to submit their most innovative products or services for consideration. Judging criteria included innovative product design or construction, an answer to an industry need, and development or use of a new technology.
