  • NYLO Hotels Innovative Loft-Style Hotel Concept Seeks Local Artists to Create Masterpiece

Driven by cutting-edge NYLO Hotels, creator of a new class of hotels in the lodging category of lifestyle hotels with loft accommodations, NYLO Plano, slated to open later this year, announced yesterday a call for all local artists to submit inspirations for the new property. NYLO is seeking local artists who will enable NYLO to reflect the local art community and talent. NYLO Plano along with The Art Institute of Dallas embarked upon a search for original masterpieces to be displayed in the hotel's guest lofts, corridors and public spaces. Beginning now until July 2, 2007, NYLO Plano will be accepting art work that embodies the creativity of the local art scene.

"We are excited to partner with the Art Institute of Dallas and jointly inspire innovation and ingenuity in local artists," says Michael Mueller, President and Chief Development Office for NYLO Hotels. "Our vision is to create an environment that is an extension of Plano and hope to do that by showcasing artwork that reflects our surroundings through a local artist's eyes."

Within the hotel, each space seeks pieces of a unique medium and theme. For the guestrooms, NYLO Plano is looking for three related pieces of original art on canvas, oil or acrylic, evocative of cutting-edge loft living while incorporating the individual spirituality and vision of the local artists. The pieces selected will be reproduced using the giclée process, in order to preserve the original integrity of the artwork.

"Every NYLO Hotel's design is unique to its environment," states Patrick O'Neil, Senior Vice President of Operation for NYLO Hotels. "In order to capture the quintessential feel of the Dallas area, we hope to receive distinct points of views that will become the spirit of the property. The art contest not only provides exposure for up-and-coming artists, but also creates a platform for them to exhibit their work. I have already met with several artists and they are extremely excited about the opportunity NYLO has presented to them. We can't wait to see Dallas' creative minds showcased in our inaugural hotel."

To be displayed in the corridors, NYLO Plano requests photography to be submitted in three different categories, including urban/industrial, nightlife and southwest. Designed to challenge even the most free-spirited, the hotel has placed no specifications on the artwork submitted for public spaces and encourages artists to think out-of-the-box using a plethora of mediums.

"This is an unheard of opportunity for Plano and DFW area artists," states David Kellam Brown, Plano artist. "Placing art in the first NYLO Hotel will give the winning artists one-of-a-kind exposure that 'money can't buy' with no entry fees and cash prizes to boot!"

Winners will be chosen for the guestroom and corridor categories with a variety of prizes, including entrance to the property's grand opening party and artist profiles on the NYLO Web site, for the top three pieces.

"This is an excellent opportunity for budding artists and photographers," says Sarah Stockton, Director of Public Relations for the Art Institute of Dallas. "We are honored that NYLO would think to include our faculty and students in this endeavor."
