MEMPHIS, Tenn., November 20, 2000--Hilton Hotels Corporation announced today the opening of the 159-suite Homewood Suites® by Hilton Miami Airport-Blue Lagoon in Miami, Fla. The newly constructed hotel represents another addition to Homewood Suites by Hilton’ growing roster of more than 90 hotels. Homewood Suites by Hilton is a national brand of upscale all-suite, residential-style hotels targeting extended-stay travelers.
The Homewood Suites by Hilton Miami Airport-Blue Lagoon is owned by RT-BL Associates, L.C. in partnership with Dimension Development Corp. The hotel will be managed by Dimension Development Company, Inc.
“The need for hotels that cater to guests staying five or more consecutive nights greatly exceeds the available supply,” said Sam Friedman, president of Dimension Development Corp. “Our new facility was created specifically to meet the special needs of travelers who stay at a property for extended amounts of time. We offer spacious, residential-style suites with fully equipped kitchens and separate sleeping and living areas that are large enough for work, study, entertaining or relaxing.
“Homewood Suites by Hilton hotels have a home-like atmosphere that appeals to business travelers who stay for a few nights or a few weeks, as well as families vacationing with children and weekend travelers seeking a get-away retreat.”
Guests will enjoy a complimentary breakfast buffet in the property’s hospitality center—the “Lakeview Room,” an evening manager’s reception Monday through Thursday with complimentary light meal and beverages, an executive business center, exercise facilities and the “Suite Shop,” a convenience store.
Located at 5500 Blue Lagoon Drive in the Waterford Office Park, the seven-story hotel will be located near a number of corporate offices, including Flight Safety Boeing, Miami International Airport and Hewlett Packard. Hotel amenities will include an outdoor pool, in-room video players, exercise room, whirlpool, executive business center, picnic area, airport shuttle service (with area service as available) and 4,000 square feet of meeting space.
Launched in 1989, Homewood Suites hotels target guests staying five nights or more who prefer upscale, residential-style, all-suite lodging for a price comparable to a stay at a traditional hotel. Each suite has a fully equipped kitchen, featuring a microwave oven, refrigerator with ice-maker and twin-burner stove with all the necessary pots, pans and utensils. Additionally, suites contain two remote-controlled televisions, a videocassette player, ceiling fans, an iron/ironing board, two telephones with data ports and free local calls.
Members of the Hilton HHonors® guest reward program can earn HHonors points in addition to airline miles for every qualifying stay at any Homewood Suites by Hilton. HHonors is the only hotel program that allows its members to reap Double Dipâ earnings by simultaneously accumulating both hotel points and airline miles with each qualifying stay.
Homewood Suites by Hilton is a subsidiary of Hilton Hotels Corporation, recognized internationally as a preeminent hospitality company.
