Didier de La Ferrière was recently named as the new General Manager of the Sofitel San Francisco Bay, according to David O'Shaughnessy, Executive Vice President & COO of Accor Business & Leisure.
Most recently the General Manager at Sofitel Houston, Mr. de La Ferrière has been with Accor and Sofitel Hotels & Resorts for 12 years. He has held management positions at several Accor/Sofitel properties, including: Sofite7l Santa Clara in Cartagena de Indias as pre-opening and opening Food & Beverage Manager; Sofitel Madrid Airport as Hotel Executive Assistant Manager in charge of Food & Beverage; Sofitel Paris la Defense Grande Arche as opening Food & Beverage Director and Executive Assistant Manager; and Sofitel New York Team as Resident Manager.
Additionally, Mr. de La Ferrière's education included the Hotel Management School of Glion, Switzerland, afterwhich, he served in the United Nations Forces in Lebanon (UNIFIL). Mr. de La Ferrière then started his post-college career working in the kitchen of the Hyde Park Hotel in London, England then moved on to the Banquet Department at the Sheraton Skyline, also in London. Mr. de La Ferrière's career also included several positions in and around Europe, giving him a well-rounded background, at such properties as: the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Casablanca; the Holiday Inn in Milan, Italy; and Quality Hotel in Paris, France.
A native of Casablanca, Morocco, Mr. de La Ferrière was also raised in Lyon, France where he started his career with Sofitel at the Lyon property as an intern. Mr. de La Ferrière is married with two children.
The Sofitel San Francisco Bay Hotel is located on the Redwood Shores Lagoon in Redwood City. The hotel has 421 rooms, many of them with beautiful panoramic views of the lagoon. Other features of the hotel include an outdoor swimming pool, 14 meetings rooms, a grand ballroom and T-Mobile Internet access in all public areas.
