Best Western International Promotes Denise Seomin To Director Of External Communications |
Best Western International today announced the promotion of Denise Seomin to Director of External Communications, effective immediately. In her new role, Seomin will manage all publicity efforts related to Best Western's corporate programs and member-driven initiatives, as well as oversee the company's cause marketing arm, Best Western for a Better World. She reports directly to Dorothy Dowling, Best Western's senior vice president of marketing and sales, and directs a four-member communications team, as well as Allison & Partners, Best Western's public relations agency of record.
'Throughout her tenure at Best Western, Denise has played an important role in positioning the brand as a leader within the hospitality industry, successfully communicating company initiatives and news through various media channels,' said Dowling. 'She consistently demonstrates a thorough understanding of Best Western's communications objectives, from both a brand and member perspective. We look forward to seeing the results of her creative leadership.'
Seomin first joined Best Western in 2004 as Manager of Consumer Media Relations, where she was responsible for all media outreach activities related to Best Western's role as the Official Hotel of NASCAR. During the past three years, which included a promotion to Senior Manager in January 2007, she also led all publicity efforts for the Gold Crown Club International loyalty program; the Best Western Travel Card; the BestWestern.com Web site; various activities surrounding the company's recent 60th Anniversary celebration and select PR-driven promotions and special events.
'I'm very honored to be leading Best Western's external communications team,' said Seomin. 'It's an exciting time for the brand, and the industry as a whole. I'm looking forward to working with our talented board, executives, staff and member properties, while assisting the media in their daily efforts.'
Prior to Best Western, Seomin held the position of Vice President of Public Relations and Corporate Communications for the international river cruise and tour company, Uniworld, where she developed its first-ever in-house public relations department. Before joining Uniworld, she served as Public Relations Manager for Princess Cruises, where she coordinated nationwide projects and events, including ship launches and specifically-themed promotions. Additionally, she spent six years as Media Relations Director for the cable sports network, FOX Sports Net, where she managed all national program publicity.
Seomin received her Bachelor's degree in journalism and a Master's degree in sports management from The Ohio State University.
