McDonald's Restaurants Open Two Hotels in Switzerland |
|
|
November 30, 2000 -- HVS International -- McDonald's Suisse Holding, the Swiss arm of the restaurant fast food chain McDonald's Corporation, has unveiled plans to open two four-star hotels in Switzerland. The hotels will be branded Golden Arch Hotels and aim to attract business travellers during the week and families at weekends.
The hotels will be equiped with Big Mac adjustable beds, Internet access, a childcare centre, soundproof walls and a Mcdonald's Restaurant.
A 211-bedroom hotel is planned close to Zurich airport and the other is to be located near the village of Estavayer-le-Lac; both will be ready to open by spring 2001.
According to Jack Greenberg, the company's Chairman and Chief Exeuctive, innovation is always on the menu at McDonald's. Certain analysts, however, are sceptical of the idea, proposing instead that a budget hotel may be more suited to the average McDonald's customer.
