Wende Blumberg Promoted To General Manager Hilton Atlanta Airport

  • Hilton Wende Blumberg has been promoted to general manager Hilton Atlanta Airport, according to Jean Simmons, area vice president Hilton Hotels Corporation Southeast region, effective September 17, 2007.

    Blumberg most recently held the position of general manager of the Hilton University of Florida Conference Center in Gainesville, Florida, a position she has held since 1999.

    Blumberg will resume her new responsibilities will include overseeing the day to day operations for the 504-room Airport property, which has received the AAA 4-Diamond award for 17 consecutive years.

    Blumberg has had more than two decades of industry experience with extensive background in conference center hotels. She has served as director of conference services at a number of individual hotels and conference center companies, including Kingsmill Resort in Williamsburg, Virginia, Sandestin Beach Resort and Benchmark Hospitality, a conference center management company located in The Woodlands, Texas and as director of sales and marketing for ARAMARK at Xerox Document University (National Conference Center) in Leesburg, Virginia.

    From 1998 to 2000, Blumberg served as president of the International Association of Conference Centers, overseeing membership of more than 400 conference centers and allied companies. She is past president of IACC's Global Board of Directors. She received the prestigious Pyramid Award for outstanding volunteer contributions in a leadership role and she was also awarded the Mel Hosanski award for distinguished service which is IACC's highest award. She is very involved in the hospitality industry having served as chairperson of the Tourist Development Council, Gainesville Sports Commission and newly formed Advisory Board for the Department of Tourism Research and Development at the University of Florida. In addition, she has served on the Board of Directors of the University of Florida Performing Arts Center and College of Health and Human Performance Advisory Board Member and Distinguished Alumni Award Winner.

    Blumberg received her master's degree in recreation and parks management at Penn State University and her bachelor's degree at the University of Florida. A diehard Gators fan, her son currently attends the University of Florida. She is married to George, a PGA Golf Professional.

    The Hilton Atlanta Airport and Towers is located 1.5 miles from Hartsfield International Airport. Amenities include a business center, 3 full-service restaurants, a sports bar and a cocktail lounge. Also available is an on-site fitness center, indoor/outdoor pool, whirlpools and tennis.
