  • Travel Industry Wire The UK and Brunei today signed a new aviation agreement which modernises many of the existing arrangements and opens up further areas of commercial aviation for development.

The agreement, which comes into effect today, replaces the previous agreement of 1990 and was signed by Aviation Minister Jim Fitzpatrick and the Brunei Minister of Communications, Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Kerna Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Abu Bakar Bin Haji Apong.

    Mr Fitzpatrick said:

"I am very pleased to sign this new agreement, which will be good for passengers and the aviation industry for both our countries. It will also offer further opportunities for the development of the tourist industry in Brunei. "It strengthens the good relations that exist between our two countries, and shows that we are pursuing the same goal in opening up opportunities for airlines to provide new services on a free and fair commercial basis."
