Hampton opened 13 properties in December 2007 - representing 1,274 new rooms. The new openings include five Hampton Inn hotels and eight Hampton Inn & Suites properties. All openings are franchised, newly constructed hotels.
'The year 2007 was strong on the development front for Hampton, with total openings near our record highs of the late 1990s,' said Phil Cordell, senior vice president, Hampton brand management. 'In 2007, we added 118 new hotels to our system, and we are looking to add as many hotels or more in 2008.
'Adding to our excitement in development this month is the opening of our first Hampton property in the province of New Brunswick, Canada-the Hampton Inn & Suites by Hilton Saint John. We are continuing to expand the Hampton brand internationally and now have 31 hotels open outside of the United States.'
