Accor North America Opens 37 Locations In 2007

Accor North America announces the opening of 37 Motel 6 and Studio 6 locations in 2007, including 17 new franchise locations during the fourth quarter. The latest openings include 16 Motel 6 locations and one Studio 6 property, with a room count of 1,133. In line with Accor's plans to double the number of franchise properties for its economy brands, the following locations are now open:

'Our growth plans in North America are consistent with Accor's philosophy to maintain balance as an owner/operator, management partner and franchisor,' said Olivier Poirot, CEO for Accor North America, Motel 6 and Studio 6. 'By increasing the growth of both franchised and corporately-owned locations in our network, Accor is getting closer to achieving our goal of reaching 1,200 North American properties by 2010.'

The 2007 additions include 35 new franchises and two company-owned properties, covering 19 states. Accor North America currently has more than 950 economy lodging locations in the U.S. and Canada, with roughly 25 percent of its network consisting of franchises.
