Air Methods Corporation Confirms Mid-Air Collision in Arizona

  • Airline News Resource Air Methods Corporation reported that a Bell 407 helicopter serving the Flagstaff Medical Center in Flagstaff, Arizona and another air medical helicopter, operated by a separate service provider, collided in mid-air yesterday at approximately 3:45 p.m. MDT. The patient, flight nurse, and pilot on board the Air Methods aircraft received fatal injuries.

    Company officials have arrived or are en route to the area. Representatives from the Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board are investigating the accident with full cooperation and support from the Company.

    "We are deeply saddened by this tragic event and those lost on board both aircraft. We extend our heartfelt condolences to the members of their families," said Aaron Todd, chief executive officer of Air Methods Corporation.
