AUSTIN, Texas--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 27, 2002--Construction crews put the finishing touches this week on an intricate and massive set of 140' by 8' steel trusses that will provide the structural ceiling for Austin's largest hotel ballroom -- the Austin Grand Ballroom at the new Hilton Austin. Opening in early 2004, the Hilton Austin will provide a luxurious environment for banquets of up to 1,900 people and special event theater seating for up to 3,500 people.
The massive beams of the Austin Grand Ballroom will support a collection of Italian-style crystal chandeliers that will reside over the 28,000 square foot ballroom. The unique decor will also include complementing Italian-style crystal wall sconces and a carpet pattern that will feature large mirror images of the Texas State Capital rotunda.
When completed, the Hilton Austin will serve as a city showcase site in the heart of downtown Austin -- featuring 60,000 square feet of high-tech meeting space with 37 total meeting room configurations; 800 luxuriously appointed guest rooms, a concierge level; and 25 suites, including a 1,850 square foot presidential suite. The hotel also will include a 16,000 square-foot Fitness Center, featuring a 48-foot outdoor lap pool, spa, sun deck and Health Club offering exercise facilities as well as treatment rooms.
