Jon Denison Named Associate Dean for External Affairs at the Cornell University School of Hotel Administration

  • Cornell Jon Denison has been appointed associate dean for external affairs at the Cornell University School of Hotel Administration. A seasoned leader in institutional advancement, Denison will provide strategic direction for the School's alumni affairs, development, corporate affairs and communications functions.

    'Jon brings to this position an ideal blend of personal leadership and professional experience,' said Michael Johnson, dean of the Cornell Hotel School and E. M. Statler Professor. 'I am confident that he will be very effective in leading our outreach to the many alumni, friends and corporate partners who are so important to the School.'

    Denison comes to Cornell with nearly 30 years of diverse experience in higher education. Most recently he served as director of corporate relations and associate director of development and alumni services at the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth College in Hanover, N.H. Earlier, he served as vice president for institutional advancement at Utica College in Utica, N.Y. Denison also held several positions at Syracuse University, including executive director of corporate and foundation relations. He began his career at SUNY-Morrisville, where he was vice president for institutional advancement, assistant to the president, and interim dean of the School of Liberal Arts.

    Denison holds a BS degree in advertising and an AS degree in journalism from Ferris State University. He earned an MS degree in management science with a concentration in human resource management at Binghamton University, and he pursued further graduate study in higher education administration at Syracuse University.
