  • Airline News Resource The Association of Flight Attendants-CWA (AFA-CWA) issued a statement today in support of American Airlines flight attendants as they picketed four major airports across the country. AFA-CWA represents flight attendants at American Eagle Airlines, a regional carrier for American Airlines.

"On behalf of the American Eagle flight attendants at AFA-CWA, we stand in support of our sisters and brothers at American Airlines in their quest to improve working conditions and restore their wages which were decimated in order for airline management to avoid bankruptcy," said Veronica Tenerelli, AFA-CWA America Eagle President.

"American Eagle Flight Attendants share their plight to improve working conditions as flight reductions have led to grueling schedules for our fight attendants as well. We know firsthand that cuts and reductions come off the backs of all front line employees of AMR.

"Management continues to reward themselves with millions of dollars in bonuses. Flight attendants in this country are working more for less, and it is time to restore some of what has been lost over the years.

"History has taught us that what happens at one airline often has a domino effect at other carriers. That is why AFA-CWA supports the efforts of our colleagues at the Association of Professional Flight Attendants (APFA) as they continue to focus on improving the quality of life for all flight attendants."

Over 1,500 flight attendants at American Eagle are scheduled to enter negotiations with airline management next year.
