Hilton Recognized by Black Meeting Planners Organization |

BEVERLY HILLS, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 10, 2001--Hilton Hotels Corp. has received a Corporate Award from the National Coalition of Black Meeting Planners (NCBMP) for its support of hiring of African Americans in the meeting-planning industry.
Hilton has worked with NCBMP for the past 15 years through both participation and attendance. In the last seven years, Hilton has also contributed nearly $70,000 to NCBMP for the continuing education of young students in the hospitality industry.
Attracting and maintaining a diverse work force enhances our competitiveness and strengthens our business ties in a global hospitality industry, and it is in that spirit that we're proud to accept this award, said Stephen F. Bollenbach, president and chief executive officer, Hilton Hotels.
To garner Corporate Award recognition, Hilton Hotels demonstrated equity in patterns of African American hiring in managerial employment (in fields related to meeting planning), exhibited good corporate citizenship by supporting NCBMP and other minority conferences (through advertising, exhibiting and event marketing opportunities), and displayed support of minority conferences for a minimum of three years.
Hilton Hotels has made a strong commitment to diversity and implementing initiatives throughout the corporation. The hospitality company not only supports the NCBMP but also supports various minority organizations, including ongoing support of the college-based organization the National Society of Minorities in Hospitality.
Hilton has been an exhibitor at the NAACP Commerce and Industry Tradeshow and Diversity Job Fair. Hilton was also awarded the Exhibitors Award by the NAACP at last year's 2000 Annual Convention for its continuing commitment to the organization. Additionally, Hilton is a proud sponsor and supporter of the National Urban League and was recently recognized in Fortune magazine's 50 top companies for minorities.
