  • Airline News Resource Budgets have gotten tighter in 2009, but that hasn't prevented the majority of travelers from finding ways to reach their destinations. A recent survey suggests that most would rather cut corners than stay home.

Conducted by GO Group, LLC, the nation's largest airport and ground transportation provider, the survey polled 259 travelers. Of that number, less than half (47.9 percent) plan to travel less. Most plan to make budget cuts in other aspects of travel.

Some 53 percent plan to use shared-ride shuttle services to get to the airport, 46 percent plan to book through discount travel Web sites and 24 percent will stop checking luggage to avoid fees now imposed by the airlines.

"In our current economic environment, both business and leisure travelers are looking for low cost alternative," says John McCarthy, president of GO Airport Express.
