John Q. Hammons' Holiday Inn Hotel & Suites - Beaumont Plaza in Texas Celebrates Re-Grand Opening Post Hurricane Ike

  • Holiday Inn More than 200 city officials and clients from Beaumont, Texas, and the surrounding region, recently celebrated the official re-grand opening of the newly renovated Holiday Inn Hotel & Suites - Beaumont Plaza in Texas.

    The hotel and adjacent convention center underwent a $7.5 million makeover after weathering Hurricane Ike. The eight-story, 253-room/suite hotel and adjacent 22,000-net-square-foot meeting facility are operated by Springfield, Mo.-based John Q. Hammons Hotels & Resorts.

    During her remarks at the re-grand opening celebration, Beaumont Mayor Becky Ames reinforced the important role of the hotel and meeting facilities to the community and John Q. Hammons Hotels & Resorts' example is a good corporate citizen. Regional Vice President Mark Wasiak represented John Q. Hammons Hotels & Resorts and expressed the company's appreciation for the company's employees' stellar example in good times and challenging times, such as during the aftermath of Hurricane Ike. Hotel Director of Sales Cassandra Petredis coordinated re-grand opening festivities in which guests enjoyed food, music and prizes, including a chance to win a cruise for two. Attendees also participated in a themed scavenger hunt of the newly renovated facilities.

    Although impacted by Hurricane Ike, the Holiday Inn Hotel & Suites - Beaumont Plaza remained open specifically to serve as a refuge for major corporations' displaced workers. The hotel is now again accepting reservations.

    'Our hotel associates have shown an unwavering commitment to exceptional guest service regardless of the extreme circumstances,' said General Manager Berry Miller. 'We've received a heartfelt welcome from the community and clients as we are again officially open for business and sporting a fresh look.'

    As a part of the $7.5 million makeover, the Holiday Inn Hotel & Suites - Beaumont Plaza received exterior reconstruction, including signage, landscaping and building repair. Interior renovations and repairs included fresh paint and vinyl in common areas, hallways and convention space. Sleeping rooms also received storm damage repairs. For social gatherings, a new lobby bar in the atrium area next to the waterfall is being installed to complete the renovation this spring. The bar area will feature multiple flat screen TVs for guests' enjoyment.

    Located at 3950 I-10 South at Walden Road, the Holiday Inn Hotel & Suites - Beaumont Plaza is situated less than a mile from Ford Park in the museum capital of Texas and just minutes from the fantastic shopping, dining and nightlife of the Crockett Street entertainment district. The Texas Energy Museum, Big Thicket National Preserve and numerous other exciting attractions surround the hotel.
